AWS Outage Ripple Effects
Apologies to everyone who has had difficulties connecting to the BAGeL Radio stream this week.
On Monday there was a major outage at Amazon Web Services, the supplier of much of the world’s cloud computing, which caused major issues for banks, entertainment sites, Apple Music, little old us, even Amazon.com.
They were able to identify & fix the cause, however the ripple effects of the outage are still being felt which is why sometimes our app works, sometimes it doesn’t. Same is true if you use the MyStream player (big blue button at bagelradio.com), or direct stream links, or the Online Radio Box or Radio Garden apps, etc.
The stream is fine at our end, nothing we can do about those connection issues from here. All we can do is to hope that when Billions Bezos returns from his lair on the moon (or is he regenerating at the one on the floor of the Pacific Ocean this week?) he ensures these disruptions stop & puts in place new fail-safe measures to prevent them from happening again.
Until then please visit bagelradio.com/listen & try alternate methods of accessing our stream when your preferred method is down.
Thank you & again, our apologies.
-BAGeL Ted
P.S.- anecdotally it appears that the stream player on our home page is working reliably more often & in more global locations than other options:
