“480 Minutes” - Top Music of 2025
Despite everything, here we are again. The coda to another year of great music, love, loss, discoveries, re-discoveries, lousy political leadership, typhoon, hurricane, earthquakes, smog!, & of course, my tragic Jets not making the playoffs.
Today we present the year-end top-music edition of 480 Minutes, our live-hosted indie rock noise pop post-punk shoe gaze psych & garage rock program, from 9am until 5pm Eastern U.S. Time on Fridays. Today will be all 2025 all the time (save for a few 2024 things that we picked up in 2025 or which arrived too late for consideration in 2024), including a countdown of the top 50 songs beginning at 11am ET. Tune in!
If you haven’t already completed your BAGeL Bingo card, download one & do it. It’s too late to submit it for the contest, but you can still fill one out & play along for fun.
Thanks to everyone who submitted a card — best of luck to you! You’re going to need it. Once completed I went over my top 50 songs list & was shocked by it. Not what I expected after a couple of weeks of crunching numbers, drowning them in subjective sauce, then listening to the 600+ songs added to rotation this year, but there it was. I checked it twice & then thrice & while a few minor last-minute tweaks were made, it looked pretty much as it did when I finally sighed & told myself, “it’s done.” It was unrecognizable. Unfathomable how many great songs had to be pruned to get to this point. You’ll see what I mean. Those participating in BINGO are going to come after me with pitchforks. Fortunately I ordered my pitchfork protection shields in time.

The format of today’s show will be as follows:
9 a.m. - 11 a.m. — songs of 2025 we loved that didn’t quite make the top 50.
11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. (estimated) — top 50 songs of 2025 counted down starting w/ #50 b/c we’re contrarians, MFer. Deal w/ it.
1:30 p.m. - 5 p.m. — more songs of 2025 we loved that didn’t quite make the top 50.
5 p.m. - 9 p.m. - even more songs of 2025 we loved that didn’t quite make the top 50 except w/o a host talking to you about the tunes.
Due to the extended length of the year-end top music show, this weekend 480 Minutes will re-rerun every 12 hours beginning on the 9s (Eastern U.S. Time).
Tune in & meet fellow members of our listening community in the chat room during the live-hosted show. Live & die w/ them as they sob while crossings entries off their bingo cards as songs are eliminated from contention during the first two hours of the program.
