“480 Minutes” - Occupations Continue
The totally complicit American news media has been telling us for days now that the Trump administration has “changed course” in Minnesota following the second fatal shooting of an innocent human by ICE.
The AP reported that the administration had “shifted toward a more conciliatory approach,” describing Trump’s new policy as an “about face.” The first part of that is meaningless without action, the second is a lie. The NYT said: “Trump Changes Course in Minnesota.” This is a lie. The WSJ would have us believe that the admiinistration had “changed course” after “R lawmakers and other allies raised concerns that he was squandering public support for his signature campaign issue.” Axios wrote about “Trump’s pivot on Minnesota.”
Despite these “nothing to see here, folks, move along” headlines & takes, the fact is there has been no change. The Trumpstapo is still out in full force with no end in sight to the oppression & chaos. Not even a “pause” to assess tactics to prevent the loss of innocent life, yet the media would have us believe the administration has seen the light & done an about face.
We all know what happens next. At some point someone is going to attack the brownshirts, creating the pre-text for further escalation which will include some combination of invoking the Insurrection Act, declaring Martial Law, and/or arresting the Governor of Minnesota & the Mayor of Minneapolis. Maybe the attacker will be someone pissed off that the federal gov’t murdered their friend or loved one & then smeared them & effectively told the murderers, “Brownshirts, you’re doing a heck of a job.” Maybe the attacker will be a “stand your ground/shoot first” or other 2nd Amendment Uber Alles enthusiast who has been stockpiling weapons or war in case a tyrannical gov’t started sending troops into the streets of the U.S. where they don’t belong, arresting/disappearing murdering people without repercussions. Maybe the attacker will be an actual terrorist looking to create further chaos in the U.S. If we continue to have unaccountable thugs trampling people’s rights including the rights to life & liberty, this outcome is inevitable.
What would be happening under a normal administration is the murders would be under thorough investigation by local & federal forces working together towards truth & transparency. The Homeland Security Secretary, who lied about what happened (repeatedly directly contradicting video evidence) & then smeared both victims, would have been fired. The White House Chielf of Staff, Stephen Himmler, aka Pee Wee German (with apologies to our German friends), who lied about what happened (repeatedly directly contradicting video evidence) & then smeared both victims including called the murdered ICU nurse Alex Pretti an “assassin” & “domestic terrorist,” would have been fired.
Instead Trump has declined to call out these falsehoods & smears & has in fact repeated some of them.
These are not the actions of an administration “changing course.”
[Side note: some readers take issue with me holding the media accountable. Reading about the White House response to the Pretti murder on NBC.com this line stood out to me: “Trump had recently returned from Switzerland, where he had agreed to compromise on his plans to take Greenland.” No, NBC News, that is incorrect. That line should read, “Trump had recently returned from Switzerland where his bluster about seizing Greenland was forcefully rebuffed by our European allies. The status quo of the past 75 years was maintained, which Trump then absurdly claimed as a victory.”
