“480 Minutes” - Lawless
…& I’m not talking about Lucy, I’m talking about the Trump Administration’s attempts to eliminate 80% of federal gov’t workers including the entire Department of Education. A tax accountant friend informs me that she’s been trying unsuccessfully to reach the IRS on behalf of a client — if the Project 2025 people get their way, no one will ever get to speak with a public-facing federal institution again.
A French scientist on his way to a conference in Houston was detained, his electronics searched, & denied entry into the country when ICE found messages on his phone critical of the Trump Administration.
A Canadian actress/entrepreneur was detained for 12 days when trying to renew her work Visa after it was inexplicably revoked.
A pro-Palestinian activist was disappeared — yes, disappeared — by Trump’s SS, forcibly taken from his home without a warrant. The Administration then tried to illegally deport the man (who has a green card & an 8-month pregnant American citizen wife), only to be temporarily blocked by a judge.
If we let Trump deport a non-criminal for political speech that gives him the green light to next round up for incarceration or deportation (with apologies to Martin Niemöller) socialists, trade unionists, Muslims, Jews, & by the time they come for you there will be no one left to speak for you.
New “objective reality” series t-shirt available now.
No new music today…not sure if everything received was total crap or it was my crap mood, but there was nothing that stood out as worthy of your ears in this week’s multitude of submissions. We’ll try again next week.
