“480 Minutes” - Beatles Cleanse
December babies are the best. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, & mean it every time.
So, happy December! December is also when BAGeL Radio looks back at all the new songs & albums we added to rotation throughout the year to figure out which were our favorites & rank them. We reveal these rankings during the year-end top music episode of 480 Minutes which this year will air on Friday, 12/15/23.
While we’re busy working on that we hope our listeners are busy filling out their BAGeL Radio bingo cards with the songs/artists they think will make the BAGeL Radio top 50, which will be counted down beginning at #50 at 11 a.m. on 12/15. Before any of that can happen each year we need to cleanse our pallet of the thousands of records we listened to this year & reset our expectations around what makes a great song. That’s where the Beatles come in. A week of Beatles-only listening helps to clean out the filter we’ve used to sift through the deluge of music submissions. When the gunk is especially thick we have been known to extend the cleanse to a second week. This year we have started this process with the Beatles Anthology, something we’ve never listened to from start to finish before.
All this is to say that todays award-winning 480 Minutes show will feature NO new songs! And now you know why.
The 480 Minutes program begins at 9 a.m. Eastern U.S. Time & is live-hosted until 5 p.m. . The show is rebroadcast in its entirety on Friday evenings beginning at 7 p.m., Saturdays at 5 a.m. and 3 p.m., and Sundays at 1 a.m. ET.
